Registered nurse was ranked as number 1 for high emotional labor due to the fact that this job consists of always interacting with patients, doctors and people in general. Since being a nurse influences patient care strongly, emotions are significant in this day to day process.

Social worker was ranked as number 2 on the list since this career entails high emotional labor between families. The way the social worker handles their emotions on a case can lead to severe consequences such as removing the child from their home or being put in a situation between the parent and the child.

Ranked at number 3 is a lawyer. Lawyers always have to deal with people. Their job revolves around aiding people in their time of need. A lawyer has a demand for high emotional labor since it makes or breaks winning a case.

Dental Hygienist is ranked at 4 because they have to deal with the public. Their occupation involves aiding patients all day. It’s important to communicate and listen to the patient in order to give the right course of treatment. Thus, high emotional labor is essential.

Insurance adjusters deal with a crisis situation at all times. Whether it was a car accident, a flood or a fire, an insurance adjuster always has to work with the client to give them the best outcome. In addition, it is required to have a high emotional labor when dealing with these time sensitive claims which is why it is ranked at number 5.

Librarians would be considered as number 6 on the list due to the fact they have to maintain a certain amount of emotional labor. While being in the library is normally for people to study, librarians must have patience, be friendly to others, helpful and assist those who need their help. It’s part of their job description that requires them to be considerate in aiding others no matter the circumstances.
