Executive Summary

Typically going to work is not as fun as we hoped it would be as a child. Sure each person is unique, but for the most part, one wouldn’t like his/her position if they were the only one in their job and they didn’t have any kind of backup to help them do their job when they were sick, and when they went on their earned vacations. Essentially by having minimum manning this would not be a topic, but with the increasing budget cuts, this is started to become the norm. To use as an example, a firm probably has a few budget analysts on hand that help them manage their money, but generally there are other budget analyst on hand to do the job when one is vacant.

In Government positions, it’s not that way. Each unit is typically assigned one budget analyst to perform the job, but if they get sick they don’t have any backup to assist during that time and even sometimes the mission can come to a complete stop.

The main reason these shortages are happening are because of budget cuts, so if we fix that, the United States government can continue to hire and maintain the best workers, this will positively affect each and every federal organization. If not, the federal government will continue to lose its finest and feel the negative effects from that.

The United States has numerous things it can do to ensure there is minimum manning that this six page paper could never represent, but the paper below will at least give the audience what, in this authors opinion, they can do have minimum personnel and to take care of your people

Essential Manpower for Government Positions

Having essential manpower on hand is crucial for the successful completion of all government operations. Some government offices require having mission essential personnel that protect life, liberty, and death. Career fields like medical and security services have such personnel that work in hospitals, police stations, and fire departments. These are just three of the many mission essential personnel you want to have on call at a moment’s notice. There are also various other career fields that fall into one of the in-between statuses that are generally only staffed Monday through Friday.

If one would combine the current federal workforce as of Oct 2013, they would see that the United States (U.S.) government employs approximately 2.7 million people, not considering its military personnel (Norris, 2013), but due to congressional budget cuts, an extraordinary amount of federal workers are being given their pink slips, with nothing more than a handshake to say good bye.
