Memo

From: Asanta Green, Marketing Director of Snyder Software

Subject: Research on potential overseas markets for language translation software
The purpose of this memo is to give Ms. Anne Snyder a glimpse of the distribution letter and also show the resources that helped to draft the letter.
For Snyder Software expansion to overseas markets, research used helped to make a fair determination into which market would be best. China is the market of choice from the research conducted. China is the best choice due to its growing economy and the fact that many residents do not speak English proficiently. Language translation software can be a huge help to China, especially for those that have business relationships in other countries. In addition, China has many tourists that visit their country daily. The business owners that service these tourists can use this software to help with communicating with customers more effectively.
There are many articles that deemed important in helping to find the best market for Snyder Software. Furthermore, these articles help with truly understanding how China conducts business relationships and their expectations. In the article, Business Etiquette in China, the writer explains that the Chinese may not expect foreigners to speak their language, but they do expect you to have a great English translator (Vollmer, 2012). Thus, this definitely opens doors for Snyder Software, where this software can be marketed to business owners to help ease transitions with overseas transactions. Also, the Chinese have an expectation that “successful business relationships begin with trust, loyalty and honesty” (Vollmer, 2012). Throughout the letter, specifics and benefits of the product are presented to help Mr. Kim Yung make an informed decision.
The Chinese culture puts much importance on building trusting relationships. The letter is catered to this expectation, and Mr. Yung is shown that Snyder strives to build trust with its customers. Fox states that business partners are pleased when a foreigner makes an active attempt to learn about their customs and history (2008). By taking an active interest in their customs, this will also help in building trust relationships. Throughout the letter, an emphasis is given to trust building showing Mr. Yung that Snyder is the perfect company with the perfect product to begin distribution in China.
