As discussed in Chapter 3, personality traits can be influenced by both environment and heredity. We learned from the case that Branson’s development was heavily influenced by his mother’s style of upbringing. She choose to set physical challenges for Branson and his sisters, always treating them as equals, and his mother valued her children’s opinions and only offered advice when she was asked. And we must also consider the fact that Branson’s mother was also an entrepreneur herself. Taking his upbringing and style of management with his many companies into consideration I would have to say that Branson is open to experiences, as he has ventured into many areas of business and he is very adventurous. I would believe that he is a very agreeable person open to cooperating with others as well as he can to accomplish what he feels is important to him. This is shown by his advisory team who put Branson’s ideas into practical functions. I also think that Branson is a conscientious person as he would have to be very hardworking, organized and dependable in order to be as successful as he is, although he does have his own style of managing. You would also expect Branson to be an emotionally stabile person because of his stable upbringing and his ability to lead in a different way than most CEOs. I also believe Branson is a very confident individual because of his successfulness and his style of entrepreneurialism. Branson’s CSE would also be very high because he definitely believes he is capable of anything, is in full control of his life and has a high value of his own self-worth. I believe this because people with a high CSE tend to be more popular, make more money, have higher prestige jobs with higher job satisfaction and maintain better health. It is also common for people to pursue higher levels of education but as we know, Branson just doesn’t do school.

2. I perceive Branson to be a highly intelligent person who has a strong character and is highly motivated. He is a man with many talents and is not afraid to think outside the box. He is a person that believes he is capable of accomplishing anything he wants and the world is his playground. His success can be attributed to these many qualities.
