1. What is the difference between digital media and social networking used by companies to develop customer relationships?

Digital media is when companies broadcast commercial messages or seek customer feedback. While social networking helps people create or enhance already existing relationships.

2. In your opinion will social networking developed by individual companies on their web-sites improve customer service?

When an individual company develops a social networking system on their own website for their employees, I think customer service could improve. Employees from different and distant areas could communicate with each other and could consult each other about difficulties at work. For example if an employee in Michigan had trouble helping a customer or the problem was new to the location, they could contact a friend/ coworker from Florida and ask for their opinion or help.

3. Develop a question you would like to ask the author and explain why you chose this question.

If I had to ask the author a question, I would ask him what it is he thinks the Xcard could have done to improve their other ideas that did not succeed (Gift Giving, Women with high-end charge cards and Moms with Young children). I would want to ask this question because this ideas social strategies and this article said that companies that pursued social strategies, succeeded.

4. Would you recommend to companies to use social networking as a customer service tactic and explain why?
