Creating Magic Everyday
From building the pyramids to building the International Space Station, men have always collaborated. But it so seems, some groups collaborate just that bit more "better". They achieve their goals faster, they seem happier and they are always one step ahead of the competition. Why?
My name is Saiprakash Rajendran, and for the past 4 years post my MBA, I have worked in the Strategy teams of some of India's top conglomerates. I have also consulted for a major conglomerate in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. In general, my job is to study the market and the competition to prepare scenarios and business models for a new product launch or a new market entry strategy. Sometimes I work on internal projects aimed at cost cutting, or improving productivity and efficiency. My specialty though is looking at the big picture, creating long term business plans and working on special projects aimed at organization re-structuring.
More often than not, I am asked the question, "What is the best and the fastest way to improve the performance of the organization?" Well, I do not know the fastest way yet, but I sure know the best way – Motivated People. The more I see into an organization, the more I realize that the mother lode of an organization's success and eventual greatness lies with its people. The grand strategy that I am asked to design is based on the assumption that I "will" find the right talent and elicit from them the "best" of performance. Honestly, nothing can be further from the truth.
I believe that our organizations exist to serve a certain purpose - to cater to a specific need of the society. I also believe many of today's organizations have ceased to service that need. And there lies a gap, a disconnect from the reality of the purpose of our work. I hope to bridge that gap. My dream is to work with organizations
