Strategy management of NSC

Application and Technology used

During the interview, we know that the company currently using the web system called NCS Intranet System to manage the staff information. The system is developed by the web technology, ASP.net and the C# language. Since it is a web system, so it required a server and internet service to operating the system and the produced data and information is stored in the server database.

Main Functionality of NCS Intranet System (Management System)

The system needed to login before go to into the system. The system is consists of several functions, included:

i. Leave Application

This function is able the staff to apply the leave through the internet. Also, the staff can view history and the leave application status whether approve or not. Besides that, the staff can view/print their payslip within this function.

ii. Web Mail

Allow the staff sends the email through the system to other department to do information sharing.

iv. Information Sharing

The system is able to display the announcement from the admin (the person who maintaining the system), the announcement will display on the main page after you login to the system. Other than that, the system also displays the Employee Handbook, Work Safety Guideline, Training Schedule, and NCS Panel Clinic.

v. E-Profile

The System is able to display the staff detail and the education level. The system do not allow anyone of the staff to do changes on the information, included personnel details, if they wish to, they have to contact the admin to do changes.

vi. E-OT

The system allows the staff to apply E-OT through the system, the view the status from their supervisor whether it is approved or not.

Problems of the functions

There are several problems that currently faced by the system and also the organization, included:

i. User Interface Design

The design is not user friendly enough that as the employee told us, the view payslip function is appear in the Leave Application main page and it is hard to find that if the staff is first time login to the system.

ii. Claims Functions

The system provided links to download the claims form such as OT, expenses, transport but it does not helps on received
