The companies I choose to analyze are Amazon versus eBay. Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 and launched in 1995. Amazon.com is a Fortune 500 e-commerce company that is based out of Seattle, WA and is a global leader in e-commerce. Amazon originally started out as an online book store but quickly expanded their product offering, international sites and worldwide networks of fulfillments and customers service center. There are currently over 14,000 employees worldwide. Amazon operates site in Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and the United Kingdom and also maintain dozens of fulfillment centers.
Technological innovation is which drives the growth of the company which offers their customers more types of products, more conveniently, and get an even lower prices. The company serves consumers through its retail websites and focuses on selection, price, and convenience. The company also offers program that enables sellers to sell their products on company’s websites and their own branded websites. In addition the company serves developers and enterprises through Amazon Web Services, which provides access to technology infrasture that developers can use to enable virtually various type of business. More than 400,000 of Amazon titles are supplied by book distrutors and wholesalers and the balancing of publishers. The company purchases a substantial majority of its products from Ingram and Baker & Taylor and Valley media. Amazon’s original business model was based on the fact that the US supply chain for books largely consists of a few large , independent book wholesalers who service the majority of retail outlets. In the years to come, Amazon hope to create new technologies, expand into more geographies and to continue to improve the lives of shoppers and sellers around the world.
