Reflection:
Is the Government could’ve done better? The article talks about the victims of typhoon Pablo and President Aquino’s point of view regarding on it. It was stated above that the President shows concern to the victims of the typhoon, especially to the continuous rising of death tolls. But apparently, is the President really concerned or he just pretending in order to be nice in the eyes of the people? In my own perspective and as I’ve read the news, I can say that the President really shows concern and sympathy to the victims. And yes I agreed to him and also wondered that does the government could have done better to lessen the number of deaths and did they really do enough? Is there anything else they could do to save the death victims? Frankly speaking it is too late and there is no other they can do but to help those affected people.
Moreover, I agreed to the statement of the President that disaster was another challenge that the country has to go through, as well as it is their challenge too, especially on how would they help those victims and how would they manage the damage to the economy. With that, President Aquino summed up many Filipinos’ sentiment about the disaster that it’s really sad to think that some of our countrymen will be spending Christmas not around a table filled with food for Noche Buena but in evacuation centers with other families who had to flee their homes.
In the Economic side of the article, the economy of the Philippines was really affected especially in the agricultural aspect. Many coconut trees was been diminished and flew by the typhoon. Likewise, 90% of the coconut farms were lost and that it would be hard for these farms to recover unless the government is able to draft a viable plan to solve this problem. And because of that, the major coconut producer in the country suffered the burden brought by the typhoon
