The dilemma Cpt. Braegers is faced with dealing with her squad leader testing positive for marijuana and what course of action needs to be taken in order to fulfill her values. Some of the known factors besides him testing positive is also that he is a good leader among the soldiers. He is also very liked by his peers and is well respected. However Cpt. Braegers contains a set a values that she does not want to break. The other side of the story is not known, because we do not why he took marijuana or what the setting was, whether it be second hand smoke or another type of way that it can get into your body. I think she needs to go talk it over with the officer and ask him to tell her the truth of why it happened. I believe if he is a good soldier then an incident like this should not be taken out of proportion as if it were a much bigger situation. She can also go her commanding leader and ask what she should do in a situation like this. It is always better to get a second opinion then to be credited with wrongdoing later on. As a ranking officer she needs to weigh in the cost-benefit of what will happen if she ‘fires' that squad leader. I think if he does his job well and his peers react in a positive way towards him then he should be given a second chance. She also has to make it firm to him as well as the rest of the officers that this will not be tolerated from anyone.
