To think on one’s self can often be difficult but in reflection this is normal as we do not process the instruments to properly analysis ourselves. Through life we notice that we have certain traits and prefer certain structures of work than others and even gravitate to certain types of individuals, without fully understanding why? From self-observation, we become aware of certain traits we process and even use others view points as a bench mark to gauge ourselves, as we often see our Selves through the lens of others. This can often lead to distortions and leave us in position of confusion especially in times of flux, such as commencing activities and entering environments alien to us, indeed this may often leave us in apposition where we have to use a style less preferred to us and make it difficult to express our preference.  In personal development class we were introduced to the Myers-Briggs type indicator, where we were asked to indicate our preferences with respect to a number of different pairs of phrases. We were asked to reflect on our personal reaction to each set of phrases and Consider how each describe how we generally behave.

Then through analyses of our responses, certain themes were identified. which were used to suggest the approach and style and that we may be comfortable with.

These approaches and styles are part of our self-Identity and understanding this can be helpful to aid us decide what we want to do into the future. The approach taken in class was laid back and encouraged us to investigate ourselves in an enjoyable manner. Through the process of changing groups, we got to discover more about our preference and style choice. This helped us to understand that for each indicator used many other people processed similar preferences albeit probally not in the same order and in their entirety probally not all the same ones. The approach taken in class succeeded in intoduceing us to the type indicator in an enjoyable manner an in the most part was correct, I identified three parts of my type indicator with quiet good accuracy, but to get a more correct picture involved taking an online evaluation. This took a more comprehensive approach and involved the use of a lot more identifiers. The Type Dynamics Indicator also looked at our preferences and style, with respect to four different dimensions of personality and used a questionnaire. Which focused on a number of personality factors such as how we relate to others, your preferred style of interacting with others, our emotions, your general out -look on life to indicate how we prefer to think and act in different situations.

In my case the type dynamics indicator summarized my preference with the four letter code ESTJ which stands for Extraversion, sensing, thinking and judging. This code designated me as the coordinator. . “People with this style are one of the most organised,

responsible and dutiful of types who can be relied on to focus on results”.

They like to take charge and be in control – both of themselves and others. They are efficient, steady, bold and tough in their execution of their work duties. They pursue the ‘right path’ by applying reason and logic – and this can mean that they do not always take into account other people’s feelings or their needs. However, they can be relied on to evaluate what needs to be done and then make a clear commitment to action. Procrastination and ambiguity are not usually criticisms of this type. Generally, I agree with the above classification. I was border line extrovert over introvert. I think my life experience over time, has forced me to adapt preference, but this implies that I recognise both preferences in myself, which can make me flexible in the way, I approach life and can help me appreciate others with a different style.
