To clarify values is important to find your voice and affirm shared value. And to become a credible leader you have to comprehend beliefs, value, principles, standards, ethics and ideas that drives you ; and you have to express yourself and communicate your beliefs in ways that represent who you are.
The above are the summary of what I learnt from the book and lecture, and I agree with that because if you can’t find your voice, you will end up with a vocabulary that belongs to someone else and if that word are not yours in the long term you will not have the integrity to lead the people and you will not have clear vision because you say something not part of you and that will lead your team to unclear target. So to act with integrity, you must first know who you are so you need to find your voice by exploring your inner territory. For me I feel confident if I clarify the value that will lead to take charge of my life , and all of those required credibility to be built. From my experience the credibility building is a process that takes time , and required hard work with patience’s ,and this is will not come over night, one example I have it regarding that principle is, I took three years to build confidence and credibility to my managements that I can work outside office with high professional people to act as a assistance to our project leader. That by putting more effort to convince my team and our client that I am working as per the company polices and company role by margin both of them with working practice and to inform them that I can perform that activity under this title responsibility .
The last point under model the way is teach other to model the value, from that frame I understand that critical incidents are opportunities for leader to teach important lessons about appropriate norms of behaviors, how you link action and decision to shared values, speaks volume about what is really important that leader pass on lesson.
