Uber has been attacked with several problems, the corporation has over 57 million drivers around the world and it’s growing faster than many expected. The growth of this corporation has raised speculations for some individuals and has exposed Uber to harmful consequences such as law suits, and harassment scandals. Uber has recently been suffering through exposure of personal data of their drivers, however their main problem right now is still their culture dishonesty. The leadership has to take this issue into serious consideration since the company’s perception will be negatively affected, if neglected. Uber was under investigation for months regarding to several law suits that customers had filed due to harassment and discrimination from the company. After this investigation, the private law firm associated with Uber released steps of how Uber will change their culture and revolve the image of their corporation.
Uber has initiated a smart move by publically releasing steps towards how they will be fixing the flaws in the workplace, leadership and culture. This action shows the world that Uber recognizes their mistakes and has taken full responsibility in order to fix their organizational issues. One of the steps they have decided to endorse is to share responsibility within the executives. Travis Kalanick will be distributing some of his main responsibilities with others in their branch of leadership. This will help Uber succeed since individuals will feel more empowered to make decisions. It will also release pressure off from a single leader such as Travis. This implementation shows that Uber encourages team work within their leadership which will help their corporation grow, since many large names such as Apple have implemented the same strategy.
Uber has decided to implement enhancements to Uber’s internal control, this will be initiated through a strict policy in place. The employees of Uber will not be reimbursed for their travel duties and other daily expenses, if they are not abiding by Uber policies. This is a smart decision for Uber since the employee’s main concern is typically their payment. These steps that Uber has taken to protect their company and the users will eventually benefit them since the customers will regain trust in Uber.
