Medicine constantly affects people's lives. Often medical discoveries not only successfully cure certain patients, but also affect the world community as a whole. Medicine and society do not confront each other; they are in the complex interaction. From compliance with health standards in different spheres of human activity depend on the life and health of everyone, and the public interest them into account.
However, society dictates its own requirements for medicine. For example, the development of gynecology has set a target of abortion restrictions. Advances Resuscitation puts to the public and doctors question how long we need to continue the revival already incapable of living organism. Achievements in genetic medicine have caused controversy on the verge which must not overstep the scientists in experiments with cloning.
Under public pressure, the doctors already in the XX century began to approach stringently to the introduction into clinical practice of new drugs. As a result, laws on "evidence-based medicine" appeared which now are followed by doctors around the world. Increasing the value of human life affects modern medical ethics and it has led to the appearance of legal rights of the patients. So, now we are dealing with medical ethics, which dictates modern medicine, special rules for handling patients.
The medical profession has long subscribed to a body of ethical statements developed primarily for the benefit of the patient. As a member of this profession, a physician must recognize responsibility to patients first and foremost, as well as to society, to other health professionals, and to self. The following Principles adopted by the American Medical Association are not laws, but standards of conduct which define the essentials of honorable behavior for the physician. So, there are four principles of medical ethics. It is one of the most widely used frameworks and offers a broad consideration of medical ethics issues generally, not just for use in clinical setting.
