ViaCord LLC., is born from ViaCell, Inc which was purchased from PerkinElmer Inc., since 2007 for $300 million to bolster its genetics-screening business for pregnant women and newborn children. PerkinElmer Inc., expects ViaCell to increase sales around $70 million from its blood-banking business (ViaCord).
After doing research, PerkinElmer estimated the US market for blood-banking services would reach more than $1 billion within the next five years. It is a reason why PerkinElmer bought ViaCell and rename to ViaCord. ViaCord mainly provide of cord blood banking (CBB), cord tissue banking (CTB), sibling connection program and newborn stem cell preservation services to expectant families. Newborn stem cells are very important to build block of our blood and immune systems. ViaCord bring value and benefits from umbilical cord blood to save human lives. Also, ViaCord works on medical research to explore new users for cord blood stem cell for various diseases including juvenile diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
The firm collects and stores umbilical stem cells and provides the stored cord cells for transplant or infusion. Its umbilical cord blood cryopreservation includes collecting, testing, processing and preserving of umbilical cord blood. ViaCord also provides newborn’s umbilical cord blood collection kits to the patient and training materials to the medical professional who support ViaCord showing collection. ViaCord got an FDA registered, AABB accredited and CLIA certification. ViaCord’s headquarter is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the US which is recognized global hub of biotechnology. All cord blood collections are processed and stored at our cord blood storage facility outside of Cincinnati. There are over 50 employees working at ViaCord.
