Introduction
The world is very competitive place, everyone is competing with someone somewhere and most importantly we are competing with ourselves to be better than what we were from before, to survive this competition its very essential to develop a certain skillset which helps to tackle challenges that come in our way. There are two halves of my life, one half where I spend in India (growing up) and the second half mostly as a teenager spent in Canada which helped me to merge my value and beliefs which reflect on my professional work.
Human Nature and People
I came to Canada when I was 12 years old; I was born in the city of Kolkata, India. I grew up in a big family surrounded by loads of relatives, so it was a culture shock for me when I came to Canada because I had to adapt a lot of things. Even though I had my schooling in an English Medium since I was a kid still it wasn't my first language and I had to adapt to the language, weather, and culture. I come from a strict/orthodox background where we had to be careful what we say in front of our elders, even if we don't agree with their point of view and think it's completely blasphemous still we needed to keep quiet. My parents over the years changed their thought process been liberal over the years.
I had an array of Work experience. I have started working at the age of 16, with Tim Horton's then joined a marketing company and used to sign up people for CIBC Master Card to Vonage Telephones. I also worked for Tangerine (Scotia Bank) and currently I work as a Customer Service Representative/ Ticket Agent for Air Canada. After I finished my high school I wasn't sure if I was ready for University, so I enrolled myself in Business Administration program- Financial Planning in Seneca College, Once I finished my diploma I realized the need for a degree to move forward in my career, I also needed the degree to pursue my graduate studies whether if I do my MBA or securities license.
The most important thing that I value the most in my life is Loyalty, in business world trust and loyalty means a lot to develop a positive relationship with clientele. I also believe honesty and responsibility is a part of developing building trust. I am also been influenced a lot by my father, he always supported me and my sister in every step. Apart from this, I think behavior and manner are also a very important aspect of my life (you treat others like you want yourself to be treated).I would like to refer Maslow's hierarchy chart when it comes to recognizing self- identity because before I had immigrated to Canada, I had the Psychological, Safety, Belongingness but I achieved my esteem and self-actualization when I came to Canada. It helped to see the world from a different perspective and adapt to a very new culture.
