1. Overall aim of the case.

a. What are the main aspects discussed in the case?

The main aspects discussed in the case are history, design, production and distribution of Zara, Hennes & Mauritz and Benneton. It also discuss about the dual supply chain of these brands. Firstly, the case talks about who and how was founded Zara. Secondly, Zara’s design process began with spotting the trends across the world, the designers start making the product and finally they decide on the size and the number of garments they are going to produce and the price. Thirdly, the distribution to the stores is usually by sea or overland and the display of clothes is one of the most important aspects in the organization of the stores. On the other hand, H&M is concentrated on fashion, quality and price and try to achieve a good balance among the three. The group of designers concentrated on designing clothes that were stylish but not too complicated. The main responsibilities of production office includes identifying new suppliers, negotiating price ensuring suppliers maintaining quality, minimizing transport times and so on. All the H&M stores were managed by the company and all the stores were sell-service stores.

Finally, Benneton which is an Italy brand has the most expensive clothes of these three brands. This clothing company has several designers from various backgrounds and cultures. The production of H&M is through a dual supply chain and it uses a vertical integrated model to manufactured garments.

The dual supply chain is used by the three companies but with some differences.

b. Why are they important?

The above aspects are those that explain why you should purchase a brand clothes or other one. These aspects are explained in the previous question.
