Day 1
My name is Sergeant Bernard. My superiors have ordered me to log our mission down here in the sewers. I am not much for extravagant, or eloquent words, but I will muster what I can. I have with me corporals Charles and Frank, they are both loyal companions of mine. Charles is a bit too fanciful for my taste, but has good aim with a pistol. Frank, however, is much more to my liking; he is quiet and takes his job seriously. Damn good with a shotgun too. The task at hand is rather simple, apparently there were some religious extremists who took refuge in the sewers to avoid the holy one’s might. I partly pity them should we locate where they are hiding, as our retribution will not be swift by my own doing; I have little mercy for such outrageous heathens.
Our first day so far was rather uneventful, despite spotting some stragglers who we questioned, and later killed as we could not have them tipping off the extremists. Charles was rather uncomfortable with this, but I persuaded him that they were too much of a risk. The smell is the worst part of this mission, I do not know what I would do to get a breath of fresh spring air. We set up a watch pattern for the night, and I, cursing my fate, took first watch. It will be rather hard to keep track of time here.
Day 2
Thus far, this mission is turning out to be a complete waste of our time. Walking deeper into the maze of sewers, the most interesting thing we saw was a mouse, scurrying away from us. To make matters worse, I slipped on a strange, dark red liquid when I took point. Fortunately, I avoided the filthy water that ran beside us, but I now have a searing pain in my ankle. I have been able to put weight on it, but each step is accompanied by agony. Charles suggested turning back, but I ordered them to press onwards. Frank said nothing, but now it seems to me that he was irritated by my mindless actions. I can’t say I blame him, I would have felt the same way if our roles were reversed. The longer we take to finish our godforsaken mission means the longer we are stuck in these dark, damp sewers. Thankfully though, we have enough torches to carry us through the mission. I drew first watch again; it is going to be a long night.
Day 3
My foot is now swollen badly, despite attempts to ease my pain. Charles claimed to have some experience with being a medic, regardless of my doubts though, he managed to stop the swelling. I’ll give credit to where it is due, he seems to actually know something at the very least. Charles suggested that I stay off my foot for a bit; Frank is not pleased by this, so I suggest that they scout ahead while I rest. With my powder pistol in hand, I keep my back to the wall, and watch for any suspicious movement as I slowly doze off.
About an hour has passed, I wake up to a noise of what sounds like a door with a rusted
