Based on your knowledge of policing at this point, would you want to become a police
officer? Why or why not?
Based on my knowledge of policing at this point I would be a police officer. I think that with my goal in life being to help people I would be able to do in the role as a police officer.
For me I have to take into fact that helping people is very important and to see the smile on a child's face is one of the priceless moments in life that are more important then money. I understand that as a officer I may not make a lot of money however like teaching being a police officer should be one those professions you do for the love of the job.
Another Factor which must be examined when thinking about becoming an officer is police are not looked as helpful or the good guys by a lot of people. I think that for me wanting to work in the areas I would want to be inn that could be an issues but it would be up to me to try and change the view of officers. Policing just like any other profession has those who are good at their jobs and who treat both the job and the people they encounter while doing the job with respect and those who don't For me I would want to help people understand we are not all the same.
I think beyond being able to help people I would enjoy the unexpectedness of the job. For most police officers each day has the possibility of being different from the others and you never know what is going to happened or who you are going to meet. I think although these factors can make the job extremely dangerous it can also make the job fun and exciting.
There are many reasons why I wouldn't want to be a police officer however I really do think the Pros outweigh the Cons. A lot of the reasons why people feel the way they may about officers can because of one they encountered therefore maybe if they encountered someone
