Intro.

Joining the military can benefit most people, because they become skilled at realistic life skills such as first aid, wilderness survival, computer expertise and self-preservation. They grow to be bodily fit, psychologically strong and well-informed in numerous areas. They further learn how to work hard, restraint themselves, pursue orders, think and show the way to their peers. Furthermore, what is more important is that when they leave the military they do so with the skills that profit the social order, the place of work and the family. It would also profit them in their later lives as they would be people with a college degree, and have also served the military for a few years or so and this would make them more attractive in the public and private sectors. After joining the military you will realise that some of the benefits you get are MONETaRY, you learn different values, and skills for advancement in or after leaving the service.

Paragraph (MONETARY BENEFITS)

The military can provide a lot of monetary incentives for individuals who are pursuing both enlistment and higher education. Enlisted individuals can start out making approximately $20,000 a year upon completion of basic training, which may not seem like a lot at first glance. However, the military provides allowances that cover both housing and food fully, meaning that the average private or seaman might end of having quite a bit more spending money on hand than their fellow high school graduates. Individuals in the military can also receive hazardous duty pay and numerous other incentives that can help to cover the cost of living. a Second Lieutenant or Ensign can expect to earn approximately $35,000 in addition to the aforementioned incentives ACCORDING TO THE US aRMY . Furthermore, through the receipt of readily available ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) scholarships, an individual can attend the college of their choice with tuition being completely covered by their preferred branch of service. According to Rod Powers, retired Air Force First Sergeant with 22 years of active duty service. The Air Force Reserves give 100 percent tuition assistance for undergraduate degree programs, with some limitations on annual maximum and the army Reserves offers 100 percent tuition assistance for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The idea of leaving college debt-free is very appealing, and rightly so. Upon completion of a mandatory five years of service, the individual may choose to leave the military whenever they wish.

Paragraph (VALUES)

Military service also instills in a service member values and skills that are conducive to life outside the military. The military promotes discipline, promptness and integrity, values that seem to be sorely lacking in the private sector. According to the Military Leadership Diversity Commission, a federal advisory commission- Core values provide the common ground shared by all, However, individuals also bring their personal characteristics to the organization. Integrity is especially important, as your word (and your adherence to it) will determine how others see you and how likely you are to be trusted with important tasks. The military also affords amazing opportunities for leadership at a relatively young age. A nineteen year old can become an NCO (a non-commissioned officer) as an enlisted man and can be in charge of as many as ten other people. If one contrasts this to the private sector, the difference is very often staggering. It takes a long time to earn upper level management positions in the private sector, but that time is much longer than the time it takes to earn those positions in the military. Military service can even aid you in securing a job; when employers see that an individual has served in the military, that individual is often put at the top of the list of applicants for a position. It definitely doesn’t hurt to make your length of service and what it entailed known to potential employers. Military service gives you the opportunity to be part of an elite brotherhood. Members of our military are hailed as heroes, and rightly so. The military gives you the chance to give of yourself, and to become a part of something greater. We take the things we have for granted, but that is only because our minds have been put at ease by the bravest among us. As author George Orwell once said, “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
