Blue Sweater, Big Problem!

A boy named Roch was playing hockey with his local team while wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs Sweater, however this caused an uproar in the team who were playing as the Montreal Canadiens during their hockey game. The coach of the Canadiens decided to put Roch on the second line because of the sweater he had to wear. Their were many events similar to this after the fact but the worst discrimination of all was when the Curate of the team told Roch to go pray to god for forgiveness. This accusation from the Curate wasn’t directly pointed toward the boy wearing the sweater however it seemed directed towards the boys sweater. Roch smashed his stick in frustration and was given a penalty for being on the ice. The different sweater shouldn't change the view on the way Roch played. This act of discrimination just goes to show that, the older crowd of people are so far in the past they can’t see past the fact that after all it is just a sweater and what really matters is the person within the sweater. We understand that their history is important to them and that they’re proud to be the Montreal Canadiens, however the events of the late 1700’s should not affect their view on Roch. Yes, the British did try to assimilate the French however that was almost 200 years ago, no one in this community was even directly affected by this event. Also it’s not Canada’s fault that a lot of it was conquered by the British which is what keeps Quebec holding a grudge and saying that you can’t support a British colony that ruined our lives (However most of the people were not born when this took place) Canada should try to work more towards being a multicultural country. This problem also shows us that we as a community need to move on from the past and start accepting the future, people need to realize that the colour or logo of someones sweater/jersey shouldn't
