When in a management position there will always be a number of challenges that consistently arise in the workplace, in a number of different ways. An issue that the majority of managers have to be conscious of at all times is diversity and the implications that it brings. The aspects that define diversity, or the way that people are different exist on a number of levels, from internal dimensions, to external dimension, and finally organizational dimensions. In the case which we are reviewing, the manager Michael runs into a number of hurdles in closing sales with our customer Hairo. Most of these hurdles can be related to the cultural differences between the two, as well as the mental models either have about how business is to be conducted.
First and foremost Michael failed to sell the company’s product to his future employer. He had difficulty reading the needs of prospective. If you were to look at the pros for this meeting you can see that since there was a disconnection between each other it was better they realized this before they accepted the contract. If Nario were to enter an environment that he didn’t feel comfortable with the productivity level and performance would begin to drop. The cons of this meeting were that the manager was not familiar with habits and preferences of the clients. The manager spends every moment seemingly too busy to even converse politely with his future client. In fact he shows little concern for the clients desire to find out what has happened with Roger who had built a previous relationship with him previously. Because of his pushy and inappropriate attitude, these made the client feel very unwelcome thus leading to no contract.
