Competitive Analysis
For the competitive analysis we have selected two airline reservation system Airasia and Cathay Pacific Airline. We are going to evaluate the website based on five main designing principles. Since we are creating our own website, we will be uses this analysis to build user friendly and effective airline reservation system.
Cathay Pacific Airline | Rate | Reason |
Feedback | Good | The website seems to response and it gives a quick response. The website show the availability of fights as soon as we have entered the details of the flight and it also gives the quick error message when we select wrong date. |
Consistency | Medium | The website is not consistent because when you navigate from one page to another the color differ and also some of the front size are different from each. |
Constraint | Bad | It doesn’t limit the user while selecting the wrong date or passed date. It only show the error message after we submit our details. In other words it doesn’t have the date validation where it should provide the limitation for selecting the wrong or passed date. |
Visibility | Bad | The website contain too much of information and users might not fill up the bar in the right hand corner because they might not see while they will be busy with filling up the flight booking details in right hand corner. This two bars in each hand side creates a confusion for the users. |
Affordance | Medium | Affordance has been used in the website but it’s limited. The website have used only two affordance. One is the icon of printing the information or ticket and another is the plus sign which has been used to enlarge the text front so that it people can zoom in if they are not able to see. |

Feedback | Good | In this website the feedback has been used efficiently. The website is very responsive and we can say that it is a good example for this design principle so called feedback. |
Consistency | Good | The colors and front sizes remain same thought out the website. The logo for airasia has been used in every page which makes it look beautiful. |
Constraint | Good | The website limits the user while selecting the date. User can only select either todays date or the date day after today You can see highlighted dates which can be selected and one without the highlight indicate that we cannot selected since the date already passed |
Visibility | Good | The position of all the icons are arranged in such a way that every individual can see. The icons has also been highlighted so that the users will be able to identify and press the rite options. For example you can see that the search button is being highlighted with red color so that user will see it easily likewise on the booking page, continue button has been highlight so that it will help the users to omit the confusion. |
Affordance | Good | Icons like building, mouse curser has been used to achieve this design principle. For the booking of hostels and flight together the icon is different whereas the icon for booking only hotel is different which help the user directly just by looking at the icon. |
