Similarly, Noonuccal’s has used her engaging and powerful literary techniques to create the same impression of not belonging to her new ways of life and her sense of lack of belonging in the community. Not belonging to land is a key value in both of these texts, even though presented in a different formats. As human beings, a feeling of belonging is vital to the well-being and self-esteem of the individual, but a lack of connection or rejection can cause instability and other negative repercussions. Shown through the short film of “Missing her” there is a definite feeling of lack of belonging to the new ways of life. In the beginning scene, the Protagonist Henry has for what looks like his first hot bath. In this first scene there is soft non diagetic music playing in the background played by the guitar. This use of non diagetic music helps to convey a curious and puzzling environment which also helps the audience to understand what Henry is feeling. Shown in this scene there is a close shot of Henry presented as he tries to understand on what is going on around him and what he should do. There is then a quick close up on a medium level as he feels the water, then the camera shoots back towards Henrys face as his arm contracts from feeling the hot water of the bath.
