Q. Does organized religion do more harm than good?

Ans. There are many different religions coexisting in the world today. These religions have provided psychological support for many people. The question on whether or not God exists is one thing which was difficult to find the answer to. Different people have different thoughts about God and its existence and there have been a lot of struggle by different people to find an answer but no clear solution was made. Christianity, Islam and Judaism believe that god continuously interferes in the flow of the world and listens to prayers. But many people claim that this cannot be true because there was no clear evidence to go for or against this idea.

But if we say that god does not exist, does organized religion do only harm to the people? If the Gods do not exist, even if they do not do harm to these people they surely make these people waste their time and energy. In fact people in Korea and America give a lot of money to the church. Also the money given to these organizations may not always be used for upright causes. There are a lot of corrupt people in this world financially or non-financially. And there is no doubt that some of these religious people may be one of them and are misusing religion to gain wealth and power. Some religions also provide inconvenience for many people. For example let’s look at the people, especially women, living in the Middle East. Why are they not allowed to drive? Why do they have to cover their head or their whole body? This may not be only because of religion but they are highly influenced by it. Because of this it is hard to change this culture of the people.

If there were no religion the disputes in the Middle East, in Ireland or between India and Pakistan or would not have been so bad. Many people died due to battles which began from the different religions. The loss of life of a lot of people and the damage created could have
