With the target of cutting down wasted time and money, while increasing employee morale, confidentiality and productivity in an organization, ethics training is very important. In order to improve Marks and Spencer’s local workers working skills and knowledge about standard of living, Marks and Spencer had provided a lot of training and teaching about the working skills required. Nowadays, the workers have knowledge of their responsibilities and rights and markedly understand how to express their issues to management. Due to the training they had gained, the management can now compromise with the workers more efficiently and effectively.
According to the Plan A Report 2014 of Marks and Spencer, they had already implemented and planned the training for the workers. The first training that they mentioned in the report is The ‘Green’ Marketing Training. This is a training programme for the managers of Marks and Spencer. The aim of this training is to have developed and rolled-out a training programme on sustainability and green claims to all Marks and Spencer marketing managers at the end of 2016. But, this training programme is claimed to be a new commitment and they have not started it yet.
Secondly, The International Plan A capacity. As for the aim of this training programme, Marks and Spencer aim to develop the capacity of their people to deliver Plan A restrictedly in all the countries outside the UK and Roi where they operate stores, using India as a pilot location. This programme is a new engagement of Marks and Spencer and it is currently on their plan. Marks and Spencer claimed that they have already started helping in developing the skills needed by their colleagues in International stores to help them meet their energy efficiency targets.
Thirdly, The UK and Roi Plan A skills. The aim of this programme is that Marks and Spencer stated that they will present better information and an adjusted Plan A Champion job specification allowing their colleagues in the UK and Roi in order to develop their environmental and community skills. This plan is currently on their planning and it is also a new commitment for them. As they’re preparing to revised the information available to all their colleagues in the UK and Roi and to adjust the job specification for Plan A Champions, who manage activities restrictedly. They mention that they will ensure that they have the right number of Plan A Champions in place to help reorganize the environmental and community skills of all colleagues.
Fourthly, The International Plan A Skills. As mentioned in the report, by 2017, a minimum of three hours training on Plan A will be given to every Marks and Spencer International employee. Yet, this is just a new commitment of Plan A and this plan has not started.
Fifthly, The UK and Roi Retail Skills. As their learning and development respond each year to the operational needs of the business. Marks and Spencer mentioned that they will continue to maintain at least an average of 1.5 days of training per year on retail skills for our Customer Assistants to 2020 as a minimum. This programme is currently on their planning and it is a new commitment to be more transparent about the training they arrange to the majority of their employees. In this year, they had already provided around 1.5 days worth of training to everyday Customer Assistant on subject including age awareness, health and safety, M&S.com, service and product knowledge.
