Half of a Yellow Sun

The story "Half of a yellow sun"67 written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie takes place in South Eastern Nigeria where middle class, poor and the wealthy live.. "Half of yellow sun" is a story that brings together the lives of four people: Kainene, Olanna, Odenigbo and Ugwu during the struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria. I believe that this story is an antiwar story because the author was describing the effects of what happened after the war. In Nigeria there was lots of conflict due to economic, ethnic, cultural and religious issues among the various people of Nigeria, that's the reason they wanted to create Birfan and get separated form Nigeria and Nigeria didn't want to give up their state, because there was large amount of oil in the south eastern part of Nigeria. That created conflict, as oil was a major component of the Nigerian economy. I believe that this story is an antiwar story because the author was describing the effects of what happened after the war. She lost her brother, she was thinking about her fiancé and he lost an arm and her family and she had to leave their beautiful house which had marble staircases.
