How can we enjoy / cope with / make the most of university?
Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I ---
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
These lines from Robert Frost’s poem convey that only those who are willing to innovate can open up new possibilities. And interestingly,I learnt this from my little brother, nine years younger than me.One day when I was in Senior 3,I was buried in piles of assignments and feeling a little bit despondent. My brother came to me with an apple and a knief, saying: "Hey sister, I want to let you have a look what hiding inside."
"I know what it is." I looked at him and said impatiently.
"No, you don't know, let me cut to you." Then he cut the apple in half. I thought he would cut from the top to the bottom as everyone did,but he,a ten year old boy,was cutting by the waist. Then, he stretched his arm up high with the apple and said,"Behold, there is a five pointed star!"
Wow,Amazing.Looking at the cross section, I can clearly saw,the malic drupe made a star.I have cut apples hundreds of times, always observant of conventional standards,so never would I speculate about a novel way to cut an apple, let alone discovering the miraculous star hidden inside an ordinary apple.
College is the four years where we have: the most flexibility to change and the lowest risk for making mistakes. So why don’t we just leave the beaten track occasionally and dive into the woods.Try not to fall into the trap of dogma and cut the apple in a different way.Only by trying out something new and think critically can we open a brand new chapter in university.
