How Is Chinese Mum Superior to Western Mum

Chinese parents distinguish from Western parents mainly in three aspects. Those differences are caused by their mind-sets, which are fostered by their own culture and couldn't easily be changed. First, Western parents think their children are fragile while Chinese parents think they should be strong psychologically. Western parents are very afraid of hurting their children’s self-esteem. Therefore, their words and actions will always be gentle, however, avoiding to tell the truth. Chinese parents, to be compared with the western parents, are more honest with how their children behaves. They will focus on the truth, sometimes unfortunately ignored their children’s mental health condition. Second, Chinese parents think their children owe them everything while Western parents think they are equal to their children in personalty. Since they give birth to the children and spend so many time looking after them, Chinese parents think that the kids should be obedient naturally. This point of view makes Chinese parents overwhelming and would even act like “control freak”. Conversely, Western parents believe that their children did not choose to be born in their free will. They feel like they have the responsibility to raise the kid, and they have no rights to be harsh to them. Last, some Chinese parents are empiricists, and they believe that they know what is the best for their children. Therefore, Chinese parents would take a hard line with their children when they don’t listen to them. In contrast, Western parents would allow their kids live a free life and do what they want. Although both Chinese and Western models of parenting are out of love and caring about their children, each would have advantages and disadvantages because the children are not all the same.
