As far as memory goes, traffic congestion and pollution have become the major challenges to be overcome by local governments. Whilst some people think that these problems may be only solved through a fuel cost increase, the counterpart believes that more effective strategies should be taken instead. In this essay, it will be argued why the fuel cost increasing proposal is unfeasible as well as showing some more adequate solutions.
To begin with, a possible approach by reducing the aforementioned issues would be by hitting fuel prices. However analyzing deeper, in the long run this fact might cause a large-scale public transport usage, so bus stations would be bound to suffer overcrowding. That is why transport systems should be improved across the implementation of new infrastructures such as underground trains, sky trains and so forth.
As regards the contamination issue, this may be only tackled by way of the alternative fuel usage, which will help us struggle for the environment protection that has been coming under threat during the last years. Thereby, governments should foster people to purchase cleaner alternative fuel working vehicles such as ethanol, natural gas and biodiesel.
Having looked at both sides of this argument, it is undeniable that the combustible price modification would not have any influence in the aim to achieve. Supporting this belief, the most densely-populated cities have adopted the previously mentioned measures showing successful results and being able to decrease dramatically the environmental contamination rates. The more pollution is under control, the more peaceful cities we enjoy.
