My plan is to retire back home to Ghana with my family, and loved ones. I am originally from Ghana where I was born and raised, and I earnestly look back to spend the latter stages of my life there.. Most of my friends and family still live in Ghana. I own a house in there , and I have been saving a good amount of my income towards my retirement. I plan to retire at the age of 66, and engage in charity works during my retirement age. I have already started contributing towards my social security and Medicare, so by the time I retire, I would be okay.
A lot of studies have shown that for retirees to meet their long-term financial goals they need to be saving 15% of their earnings (Olson, 2014). Apart from that, I have growing investment in Nigeria that is sustainable for the retirement phase of my life. I would be collecting my Social Security check from the United States embassy in Ghana.
I intend by all means to live in my house Accra, Ghana. It is the normal thing to do in Ghana as we do not have nursing homes or retirement homes. I would organize and create non-profit agencies to alleviate the people from poverty, and diseases. For recreation, I would attend birthday parties, wedding parties, funeral parties, and all kinds of traditional obligations in my community.. There would not be any short of these gatherings because I come from a large family with hundreds of relatives and scores of cousins.
