Losing a Best Friend
Good afternoon everyone, my name is Maxim Khoury and I'd like to share a question with you all.
Have you ever lost some one that was close to you, around you and beside you wherever you go? A relative? A friend? Or a parent?
Maybe most of you lost someone that he knew once, others lost one of their family member. But how does it feel to lose a close friend.
My first experience with death was 4 years ago; the loss of my best friend Mark. Although it was somewhat hard to revisit these memories I felt a strong connection with him as I am writing the speech. I had a call from Mark the day before his passing deciding that we will spend the weekend together since it has been a month that I haven't seen him due to my visit to Canada. Unfortunately, the next day Mark called me and said: "Max I am not gona be able to make it since I am invited with my sister at my cousin's to the mountain. See you soon bro." I never knew that these words were the last. It was hard to believe. I never forget the day in which I lost one great friend Mark. A day in which he was mistakenly shot by his cousin at the mountains.
He was more than a friend. When I was in stress he comforted me and asked me to chill out. When I was bored, he was always there to entertain me. When I needed help he was there to assist and support me.
Although I only knew him for 2 years, I looked to him as a brother. A brother who I was able to share anything with him. His death to this day remains a significant moment in my life.
In conclusion, I believe that we live because we die. We get happy because we get sad. We love because we hate.
