After looking at Mall of America and Mall of the Emirates websites, it seems like that both are targeting families with children. Mall of America has many attractions that are directed towards children such as: Nickelodeon Universe, Sea Life, American girl, Lego, and Minnesota’s Children’s Museum. They also are promoting on their website photos with Santa and the Santa experience which attracts to parents with younger children. The clothing stores are also a variety of adult stores, as well as children clothing stores. Mall of the Emirates also targets families as well. They are known for their indoor Ski Resort, Ski Dubai that attracts many people and families. The mall also has a movie theater, and Magic Planet. I find it very interesting that Mall of the Emirates has an indoor ski resort with hotels. It is not like any other mall and it makes it a prime destination spot for many people who enjoy actives such as skiing. When looking at the Mall of America website it seems that they satisfy all of the aspects of the marketing matrix. The Mall of America has a variety of different stores that offer different products that could satisfy any customer’s needs. The mall does not just have clothing and shoe stores it has restaurants, hair salons, hotels, stores for dogs, designer handbag stores, and much more. Different stores in the mall offer high quality products such as Ben Bridge offering fine jewelry, DSW offering brand and designer shoes, and many name brand stores such as GUESS, Burberry, and Calvin Klein. While on Mall of Americas website they have a specific tab called Deals that shows the sales, and discounts going on at the mall. The Deal tab goes hand in hand with the price aspect of the marketing matrix. It shows that currently if you shop at the Children’s Place you will receive a $10 gift card in return, Macy’s is offering beauty items for under $25, American Eagles jeans and more are 50% off, and GameStop is offering a 30% discount for gaming headsets. Offering discounts can increase a customer’s interest in that item or store in general. In regards to credit terms, AT&T is offering a $300 credit terms for those who switch to AT&T with a trade in and purchase a phone. While looking on the website and looking at the attractions you can see the admission price per attraction also any discounts they may offer. For example, Sea Life Aquarium offers discounted tickets when you purchase online. Not only is the Mall of America giving deals but it is also promoting these stores in the process. The promotion aspect of the marketing matrix can be illustrated through the events the mall offers. The mall advertises events and promotions on their website. A specific example of a promotion is at Nickelodeon Universe they have Toddler Tuesday. This promotion allows for toddlers to have unlimited rides by purchasing a wristband for $11.95. The mall is also offering a holiday shopping promotion and it entails spending $250 or more and you will receive two all day wristbands for Nickelodeon Universe. They also offer packages such as travel packages, American Girl coupon book, Packages For Large Groups, MOA Shop And Stay, and Shopping And Attraction Packages. These packages offer potential customers the ability to come to Mall of America at a discounted price, but also if they are traveling from out of time it gives them the opportunity to stay at a hotel at a discounted price as well. By the Mall of America advertising and offering these opportunity to potential customers it gains interest in those who want to come to the mall. The Mall of America does an excellent job promoting and advertising discounts and promotions for customers and potential customers. The place aspect of the marketing matrix the Mall of America offers transportation for those to get to the mall in a convenient amount of time when they went to. They offer air transportation, and ground transportation that will drop and pick up customers at their convenience. For those who live in Minnesota it is conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. For those who wish to visit Mall of America but live too far away unfortunately there is only one location. There are not assortments of Mall’s of America, which makes it difficult for those who live out of town to visit the mall. Overall, the Mall of America does a good job at fulfilling all aspects of the marketing matrix.
