While computerization is beneficial to the organization it may carry some adverse effects on the human capital within the organization. As a management information consultant (MIS) my role is to share the effects of a system that will be introduced in the organization with the aim of convincing them that all is not lost.
To begin with computerization in the organization will result in automation of some processes which may lead to some role being declared redundant. This the reality of computerization which the employees will have to face even as the organization reaps benefits of adopting new systems that will enable it improve its processes.
For the employees in management the MIS systems to be introduced will greatly assist in the processing of data into information. These manager will be able to use this information to make critical decisions that will help the organization. Computers allow the application of different types of software that can help businesses keep track of their files, documents, schedules and deadlines. Computers also allow businesses to organize all of their information in a very accessible manner. The ability to store large amounts of data on a computer is convenient and inexpensive, and saves space. A computer's ability to allow a company to organize its files efficiently leads to better time management and productivity for everyone in the organization so employees should not fear but embrace this exciting change.
Secondly the MIS system will open up opportunities for the employees within the organization. New skills will have to be developed through training and the organization will have to invest in the employees in order to make then equipped to handle the new systems since they are assets to the business. These skills will go a long way in preparing the employees for future opportunities within the organization.
