Narration Essay Final

Have you ever thought a person can be changed after her first day in the US because of a 5-years-old kid and a false home alarm? I know it sounds hard to believe but it really happened and I experienced that. I felt my head was going to explode when two loud, noisy things happened at the same time, the alarm rang and the kid cried. I have to admit that I’ve never been through anything that can give me a heart-attack like this before. However, those things, which happened about a year ago, had made me realized many things and helped me changed to a better person after the first day in the US.

Before leaving for the US, I lived a life of a little princess. First of all, I was once so childish that I always got mad when something was not the way I wanted. When things went wrong, I didn’t try to fix them and made them go right but I threw them aside and got mad for a day or more. I even blamed somebody or something else for making things went wrong. Secondly, I was totally dependent on my parents and my brother. I never thought I could do anything by myself, but even if I did, I would ruin it. For example, if it was housework like washing, cooking and cleaning, I would ask my mother; and for homework, I would ask my father or my brother for help. Finally, I hated me sometimes for being so lazy. Every time I was asked to do something, I always left it for later or leave it and someone else would do it. For instance, I never did homework on Friday or Saturday but left it until Sunday, even there were tons of homework needed to be due on Monday. However, I didn’t know that I totally changed to a different person after one day.

It was on a summer, also my first day in the US, that I was closed to get into trouble with the home alarm while I baby sat a 5-years-old kid. At the beginning, when I was just woke up after a tired night being on the plane for hours, my aunt told me to stay home and look after her 5-years-old son while she went to the market. She left in rush without telling me need to be noticed about the house alarm, which was ringing if any doors in the house was opened. After she left, I went upstairs to finish unpacking my luggage and of course I brought the kid with me.
