The Crucible Final Essay

Judgement is a large part of the crucible. Such as when Mary Warren shouted “Goody Osborne will hang!” as if she were accusing her of witchcraft. Also when Abigail says “Goody Proctor has always kept poppets” as if she were accusing her of witchery as well. Lastly when Parris calls out John Proctor and says “such a christian that will not come to church”. Without judgement no one would’ve been guilty in the town of Salem.

In Act I, Mary Warren judges Goody Osborne by yelling that she should be hanged. She yells “Goody Osborne will hang!” (164) which pretty much tells that Mary Warren is calling Goody Osborne out on Witchcraft. This is a perfect example of judgement in The Crucible. It is because nobody in the town of Salem was actually possessed by anything, they were all pretending, so this is pure judgement.

In Act II Abigail Judges Mrs. Proctor by accusing her of fooling with voodoo dolls. She does this by saying “Goody Proctor has always kept poppets.” (186). This is a good example of Judgement because she doesn’t actually say it but she’s very subtle about it, she accuses her of poppetry associated with Witchcraft. Abigail being one of the main causes of all of these false accusations this isn’t that surprising. Plus her secret love for John Proctor is still running strong when this is said. She’s probably doing this just to try to get John back into her life.

In Act III Parris judges John Proctor by saying that he doesn’t go to church. He says “Such a christian that will not come to church”. He judges John Proctor similar to how Abigail judges Goody Proctor, he does it subtly. He does this by not straight up saying
