In the late 1990s when Sex and the City became a hit show on HBO, the shoes worn by the four New York women also reached a cult like status in America . Fashion trends leave their marks in each century. In the 90 's the most longed for shoes were designed by Manolo Blahnik , every women yearned to be walking around town in hisdesigns. Carrie Bradshaw, a fashion icon and Sex and the City character , was mugged at gunpoint and she pleaded: "Please, sir, You can take my Fendi baguette , you can take my ring and my watch , but don't take my Manolos Blahniks." (Bergstein).During this past decade Christian Louboutin have become the new "it" shoes and pop culture icon worldwide . Anyone with a smidgen of pop-culture consciousness can identify them, just a flash of a shiny red bottom shoe and you know you are looking at a Christian Louboutin design (Bergstein) .

High heels haven't always been worn by women. In the 1600s, heels were worn by men as a symbol of power and status. In the year 1630 women adopted the fashion in-order to seem powerful as well. A woman in a pair the iconic shiny red bottom Louboutin shoes signals to the world her economic status and power. She is able to afford a pair of shoes that costs thousands of dollars. In the last decade an increasing number of women have left their positions as caretakers and homemakers and moved towards the corporate world. Women have had the chance to become and be respected as doctors, lawyer and CEOs. Louboutins are a symbol of the achievements of the women's rights movement, a woman can do everything men do but we do it in a pair of six inch heels.

Louboutins not only show a women's wealth, they also ooze with sex appeal. They make a woman's legs appear longer and leaner, and they infuse the confidence she needs to take on the world. There's also something exotic and very sexy about the shiny red sole, it's like a peek at a red lacy bra under a conservative shirt, it is a hint of sexy where we least expect it (Bergstein). A pair of Louboutins directs men's eyes at women's feet, this is an unprecedented achievement of power with a hint of sex appeal. They are a symbol of attraction that women can use as an advantage to obtain what they want, as Christian Louboutin once said: "Men are like bulls, they cannot resist the red sole." Christian Louboutin has confessed that he creates his shoes with men in mind. Men will always be view as superiors, thats just the mind set of society.
