1. Registration
• All patients must be registered before being checked in to the hospital
• Registration data will pass from the FDH database to And on a regular basis.
• Registration data will include patient demographic information as well as a picture of the patient
• Full registrations will be done for patients not found in the database
2. Check-in
Inpatient (General and Maternity)
• Patient is directed to the Admissions area of the hospital
• Registration clerk confirms that all registration fields are accurate
• If the patient is not registered, a full registration takes place
• Once registered, the patient is checked in as an admission to the hospital
• During check in the clerk collects fee if appropriate (see: copay/fee collection in Section 3. of this document)
• An armband is printed and attached to the patient
• Valuables are collected by the admissions clerk
o valuables form is printed and all valuables are documented
o the form is signed by the clerk and the patient
o a copy of the form is given to the patient and the original is scanned into Medfolio
o valuables are locked in the secure cabinet in finance
• Patients are transferred to the inpatient unit
Newborns
• Midwives and nurses on the maternity ward will register/check-in the new baby
Discharge
• Patients are discharged by nurses on the inpatient unit
• Patients with valuables must visit the Admissions department to collect their valuables
