Riordan Manufacturing Data Flow Process

Currently, Riordan Manufacturing has a data flow process that appears to be lacking upgrade and speed. When month-end is closed, it takes more than 15 day to reconcile the general ledger. The Michigan operating entity has hardware and software that are outdated. In addition, the developer of the software is out of business; hence Riordan is unable to call for software support including troubleshooting, integration, and any upgrades. As for the Georgia operating entity, the office runs on a different software application as there is support for their vendor developed software. The hardware and software application are more current than the Michigan office. The corporate office then receives all of the data for reconciliation and finalization of the process. Riordan is unsatisfied with its processes as the methods currently used are not cost effective nor efficient.

To achieve the integration, two types of information systems are necessary to enhance the effectiveness of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The first system is the Supply Chain Management (SCM). The needs of Riordan Manufacturing would be addressed if the SCM software is in place. Software functions include purchase order processing, customer requirement, inventory management, goods receipt, forecasting, and warehouse management. The integration technology that comes with the SCM software will make it possible for Riordan to trade directly with its suppliers.

To succeed with the integration of the accounts receivable upgrade is to use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Relationships while building positive rapports with existing and potential clients are significant, as it brings a continual growth of business. The CRM system will allow Riordan the capability to provide and deliver customer service in one system while providing sales-related data.
