Process for Admissions Appeal
Requirements for admission to Strayer University are designed to admit and place students in a manner that will ensure them a reasonable chance of success in college. Those requirements include satisfactory performance in at least one of the following areas:
- Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) cumulative score of 450.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) cumulative score of 1000.
- 2.75 undergraduate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (cumulative or last 22 courses completed toward bachelor’s degree).
- Evidence of graduate potential. If the applicant shows promise of academic success and has a minimum of three years of professional or business experience, the Campus Dean may choose to admit the applicant after conducting a personal interview (either in person or by phone).
Strayer University recognizes that there may be factors which make rigid and automatic application of some of the admission policies previously outlined inappropriate. A student whose application has been denied and who believes that extenuating factors exist may appeal the rejection to the Campus Dean. Such appeals must be based upon the existence of unusual or extenuating circumstances which have prevented the student from achieving the normal university standard. Evidence of these unusual or extenuating circumstances must be presented with the appeal. Further, such an appeal must be made in writing and should be addressed to the Campus Dean, William Carmichael.
Also, the applicant must submit an updated copy of his/her resume.
The applicant should submit the appeal letter, resume and supporting documents to his/her Admissions Officer. The Admission Officer will forward the entire applicant file (application, transcripts, appeal documents, etc.) to the Campus Dean. The Campus Dean will contact the applicant to schedule an interview once the completed applicant file has been reviewed.
The letter of appeal must contain the following elements:
