PS3 Vs Xbox
Sony has really hit the mark with the release of the latest gaming console. The newest system makes the Sony Playstation 3 video game console (PS3) a better gaming console, then the Microsoft Xbox video gaming console (Xbox). The PS3 runs faster, has a better hard drive, is better designed, and is overall better value. PS3's speed, CPU and the cost alone makes it a clear better choice when purchasing a gaming system.
The PS3 system runs faster than the Xbox system with its 3.2 GHz of ram making PS3 a better device. The Microsoft Xbox ram is misleading because the system ram and video ram are shared. Total shared ram is only 700 MHz much slower than the PS3 system (Schedeen). The Xbox Shared ram makes it run slower. The PS3 larger hard drive of 250 GB HDD allows the gamer to have more storage capacities and faster rpm speeds of 5400 rpm (Schedeen). All this speed and storage makes the PS3 system much more than a gaming console and betting out it competitor (Xbox).
Unlike the PS3, Xbox doesn't have a built in Blu-Ray DVD making PS3 a better design (Carnoy). Not to mention Xbox is bulker and stands upright; this upright position minimizes any chances of the device from overheating, therefore making it harder to fit on a TV stand, aside from the Xbox aforementioned Blue-Ray issues! Interestingly, the PS3 has 7 single-threaded CPU plus 1 backup core leaving Xbox in the dust with only 3 dual-threaded CPU. That forced Xbox to install a combined CPU/GPU chip, which added 2 single-threaded CPU to the front of the gaming console. The combined CPU/GPU slows down the Xbox in terms of performance measured in gigaflops, the PS3 tops at nearly three times the Xbox (Schedeen). PS3, wins again with its built in Blu-Ray technology, powerful CPU, and temperature control features.
Another favorable feature is the PS3 console doesn't have any online fees or charges, unlike the Xbox (Altizer). To
