Pulling at my Heart Strings
“I started missing you the second I let go of your hand”. This was the last text Tyler sent to me before he left to California for college. This was the start of our second year apart, and it was going to be harder than ever. Usually, Tyler and I know when we will see each other again. In the past, we have always been able to count on Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break, and summer. However, this year things are changing. We are only guaranteed Thanksgiving and Christmas. In the spring, my love will be studying abroad in South Africa.
We first started talking in math class my junior year of high school. He sat in front of me and tried his best to ignore me. However, I am a very social person and I enjoy getting to know new people. This soon became “our spot”. We would go up around 10 or 11 and head back to our houses around 2am. The nights when there was a lightning storm were our favorite. We would roll down the windows and smell the rain while we watched the lightning bolts touch down in the distance. We would sit and talk about whatever was bothering us, our lives, our childhoods, friends, what we had done that day, and anything else that was on our mind. It was
