TO FRACK OR NOT TO FRACK!
Today’s lesson is designed to show you the good, the bad, and the ugly of fracking. You will look at a number of online tools to form your opinion on whether you want fracking to continue in our area. (HINT: It’s already happening down the street!)
PRE QUESTIONS-
What would you say if you were offered $1,000,000 for fracking on your land?
I would let take the money because i would use the money to buy a new house.
What are two advantages you can think of to fracking near us?
1. It gets us our resources
2. Creats jobs

What are 2 advantages of natural gas compared to other natural resources?
It is the cleanest of all fossil fuels
The combustion of natural gas are carbon dioxide and water vapor, the same compounds we breathe in and breathe out.

What do you think the goals are of these commercials?
I think the goal of the first commercial is to show that fracking is okay if done right and that the commercial was trustworthy. And the goal of the second commercial is show the fracking is bad and it uses evidence of what people have said how there are better ways to get our resources without harming our water.
What bias is present in the first commercial? (Who paid for it? What interest do they have in releasing the commercial?) You may have to dig around online to find the answer here.
When they said “our old frontier is our new frontier.” and William risks, because they wanted to show people that fracking will be done in a better way.
