Speech- Should Students Attend To A University Without Having To Pay Tuition Fees?
Since you were a baby you always had that dream of you going to university, graduating becoming the best at what you are good at. Well if that dream was destroyed by a simply not able to pay tuition fees, how would you feel. You might even have the highest mark in your high school and got a 10% off your whole tuition fees, but is that enough for you to progress and flow to where you want to go.
There are three main reasons why university should be for free. First, student should not have to bear a dept of tens of thousands of dollars before graduating; second, an estimated 1.8 million university students would benefit; third, public universities would also force private universities to drop down their tuition fees.
First, university students suffer every year about the dept that is taking interest everyday until they graduate. Most of the students (Around 60%) graduating in Canada have had to borrow money to pay for their studies. Their debts before graduation are on an average close to 30,000 dollars before interest payments and adding one third for the interest making it around 40,000 dollars. The debts have to be borne by that generation of students for four years. A university comparing to 40 years ago doesn't grantee you getting a job and And when they do graduate if they don't find a suitable good long term paying job they can't pay back the money they owe.
Second, in Canada there are 98 universities to choose from, and 1.8 million students are in and rolling of an average of 18,000 students per university.

The strong argument in favour of tuition fees is that university graduates have significant higher income than non university graduates. It's said that they are getting money out of it so they should be pay for it. Often this debate centres on accessibility. This argument could applied to any level of education, since high-school graduates have an average more income than those who finished only elementary school.
An even less convincing argument is students do not value their studies unless it is expensive. It is vital for people to value the education they receive. However they are still going to value their education if they want to get accepted since all the universities will be full of excellent students.
Last point, in the end someone has to foot the bill, meaning someone has to pay it. In Canada today the government pays 80% and the students only pay 20%. However the 20% is calculated as a proportion of the total budget. If wouldn’t matter only if 20% more were needed, sure that would increase the tax rating a bit; but we are already paying four fifth of it. So it wouldn’t really matter if we paid a little bit more for tax.
