If a parents child has Autism or Aspergers, they may encounter difficulties raising them.
The kids who have autism are just like regular people and often they could teach us different
things. Many authors have written novels about mental disabilities to show the reader the
struggles and positivity of living with a child who has a mental disorder. In the novel, “The
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”, by Mark Haddon, Christopher's father, Mr.
Boone has a handful with raising Christopher. It’s hard, Mr. Boone does not give up on
Christopher and is rewarded with a determined, amazing, hardworking son. Christopher is faced
with many difficulties throughout his life but still he remained hardworking and determined.
In the novel, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time”, Christopher stays
strong during the difficult situations that happen in his life. Because of Christopher's aspergers,
he is faced with many challenges. The main being him communicating with others. “I find
people confusing. This is for two reasons. The first main reason is that people do a lot of talking
without using any words”(Page 14). Christopher tries to communicate with others the best he can
and often will have to ask what people mean because he doesn’t understand. Another example of
difficulties would be when the other person in the conversation becomes frustrated easily. After
Christopher was having a conversation with the policeman, the policeman started to get irritated
because Christopher wouldn’t answer his questions. The officer then proceeded to take
Christopher by the arm and move him, but Christopher does not like people touching him, and he
did not know any better, so he hit the officer, and he said, “I strongly advise you to get into the
back of the police car, because of you try any of that monkey business again, you little shit, I will
seriously lose my rag. Is that understood?” (Page 9 ). Even though people get frustrated with
