The Future of Education
Have you ever heard your child, or just a child, say what they want to be when they grow up, like a police officer, veterinarian, auto mechanic, etc? They are young learners that don't understand what type of education will assist them in the career of their choice. Now a days you need an education to actually get somewhere in life. If we can teach them classes that will educate them in subjects they will need to know when they grow up, we can better assist them in being more successful and motivated. So how can we make schools better for today's young learners in order for them to be self-motivated, have wisdom, and the support they will need in school and everyday life?
Why not have education systems that makes us motivated and that can make us successful in life and our jobs? This probably is the question that every college student or someone who is currently looking for a job has. "The feelings of accomplishment they gain from results of those actions will be reward enough. Providing excessive praise and rewards is unnecessary and can actually be harmful to children's motivation and desire to learn. Remember, the habits and attitudes toward learning that are formed in these early years set the mood for all future learning" (Nasp Resources). The feeling of motivation is powerful. You can do anything if you are inspired. If we can, as a country, introduce young learners with motivation it will make them strive for something better. Having the ability to not only make your own decisions, but the right decisions, is one of the most important aspects of becoming a successful adult.
Wisdom is a fundamental nature of our being. It helps us understand everything as we are learning. It is useful to know what is going on in the world and your own life. With wisdom you know what to do in life situations. Wisdom and education can definitely relate because the understanding of the school setting is a whole world unto itself. Children need wisdom in order to assist them in being motivated. Adler talks about how we need to receive education like some of our founding fathers had received it, but it was a different time period and there were different expectations. "The challenges that our children face now are different than the ones that people faced in the 19th century"
