The Most Influential Person in My Life
The Most Influential Person in My Life
The most influential person in my life is my sister. Missy was like a mother figure to me while I was growing up and still is to this very day in so many ways. She has always encouraged and motivated me throughout my entire life. Missy went to college for the first time at the age of thirty-one and obtained her Associates Degree and is now going back to earn her Bachelor’s Degree. Missy is my very best friend and has always been there for me in life regardless of the situation or circumstances.
As my sister and I were growing up, she was always by my side acting as my mother figure. She was and still is someone that I look up to and admire. She was always there to guide, comfort and care for me. Anytime that I had a problem with anything I could go to her for advice. In my opinion, I am the woman I am today because I had my sister’s guidance while growing up; as she has always pushed me to be a better person. She knew how to get me to understand things when our mother couldn’t. She knew the exact words to say to get me to open up and think about the point she was trying to make. Missy did a great job playing the role as mother and sister.
Throughout my childhood and adolescence, Missy encouraged and motivated me. She was supportive with anything I felt I wanted to pursue in life. I have always struggled with my weight and my sister seen this as a problem for me, even at a very young age. She would always fix my hair, dress me up, do my makeup and tell me just how beautiful I was. There was a time she had told me I could be a model someday. Needless to say, I did not pursue a plus size modeling career. However, that just shows how Missy has always encouraged and motivated me. Now that I am in college the encouragement and motivation from her is stronger than ever. Missy knows that earning my Associates Degree is something I want so bad that I can taste it. Every time I doubt myself she is always right there encouraging me.
Another reason that I admire my sister Missy so much is that after graduating high school she did not choose to go on to college. She married her husband soon after and had a beautiful daughter while working hard at her place of employment. When Missy was thirty-one years old, she decided that she wanted to go to college to obtain her Associates Degree. I can remember my sister working so hard while driving a newspaper route and raising a small child all while going to college. I remember saying to myself “If Missy can do it so can I”. She worked so very hard to get to where she is in her life today, and I admire her because of that. Hard work is something that my family has always believed in and it was instilled into us even at a young age. Now my sister is forty-three years old and going back for her Bachelor’s Degree, and I know she can do it. I believe in her just like she believes in me.
