The Road Not Taken

The speaker is standing in the road, when he comes across "two roads diverged in a yellow wood." He must decide between the road which is most frequently taken, and the road that has been traveled by very few. However the speaker chooses one, basically trying to persuade himself that he will come back and choose the other road another day. However, he is well aware that the chances of him being able to come back to that fork in the road is slim to none. He even admits that later on in life, he will be able to tell stories of how he had taken "the one less traveled by."

"The Road Not Taken" contained a few literary techniques which stood out to me. It had a very consistent rhthym of a solemn beat. It also consisted of four stanzas and five lines. The rhyme scheme was ABAAB. The rhymes are strict and masculine. This poem also contained four stressed syllables per line which stresses iambic tetrameter.

This poem tells us that there are times in life that e have to make choices that could be life-changing. And we have to know how it will affect our life. We also have to be able to live with our decisions because it will shape our lives in either a good or bad way. There are also possibilities that theses life-altering decisions will be drastic. It is up to us to be able to control it.
