Themes in the Hobbit

In novel “The Hobbit” by J.R.R Tolkien, the journey has brought a very keen role of self-discovery for Mr. Bilbo Baggins. Self-discovery was often displayed for Mr. Bilbo Baggins at many points of his journey to Dale. Such as the steal from the trolls, saving the dwarves from the spiders and the elf kings prison. Mr. Bilbo Baggins the very unadventurous, conformist slowly discovering a different side to himself, which leads us to our first argument: the steal from the trolls.
My first argument is; the steal from the trolls. At the time the groups of adventurers have ran out of food to eat and are not able to light a fire either suddenly they spot a light in the distance and send the burglar (Mr. Bilbo Baggins) to figure out what is going on there as well as to steal any food or supplies. The very shy and scared hobbit is strolling around as quiet as possible looks over to see that there are trolls here! ‘“ … Bilbo ought to have done something at once. Either he should have gone back quietly and warned his friends… or else he should have done a bit of good burgling.”’ (42) ‘“Bilbo knew it…. somehow he could not go straight back to Thorin and company empty handed.”’ (43) Mr. Baggins for the first time is actually trying to do something out of his comfort zone, he thinking of either to take the easy way out of the situation and go back to his friends and warn them empty handedly or to take the risk and try some skill hidden inside of him. ‘“Then Bilbo plucked up some courage and put his little hand in Williams enormous pocket.”’(43) Now Bilbo is taking a big leap and actually going for a risk which is a totally different side to little Mr. Bilbo Baggins. Is this new side for Bilbo becoming more useful?
In my second argument the dwarves are captured by spiders, Bilbo is the only one who has his senses and can save his fellow dwarves. A spider tried to trap the hobbit like the other dwarves but then ‘“he beat the creature of with his hands… Bilbo came at it before it could disappear and stuck
