Topic: Underage Drinking Should Be Avoided.
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to avoid drinking and to stop others who are drinking during their underage.
Thesis Statement: Today I'm here to convince you to think twice about picking up a bottle of alcohol especially during your underage stage.
I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: How many people in here are under 21 years old? As you look around, you will see that many of you are under this age. Have you ever tried drinking alcohol? According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, young adults show the highest result in problem drinking.
B. Tie to Audience: We are all students at college and mostly, we are under the age of 21 and some maybe have friends who involved.
C. Speaker Credibility: Being a college student and under the age of 21, I have studied this topic of underage drinking because I thought this issue would be extremely useful to all of us.
D. Preview of Speech: First, I will to talk about why teenagers should not have alcohol. Next, I'll discuss why teens are not responsible enough to drink and lastly I'll explain how alcohol is not good for your health.
Transition: Let's begin by talking about why teenagers should not have alcohol.
II. Body
A. Despite the fact of alcohol use among teenagers, there is some reason why teenagers should not have alcohol.
1. Even if you drink at once, it can have serious consequences, such as alcohol-related car crashes, unintended pregnancies, and physical fights.
2. Young adults who engage in heavy drinking are significantly more likely to get in trouble with police, damage property, sustain injuries, drive after drinking, and engage in unplanned and unprotected sexual activity.
Transition: Now that I have explained why teens should not have alcohol, I will explain to all of you why teens are not responsible enough to drink.
B. Teenagers are not responsible enough to drink because of their immaturity in understanding about life.
